The Super Famicom version of Final Fantasy IV debuted in Japan 25 years ago (7.19.91) today (7.19.16), and ZOMDFGDFGD I FEEL OLD UGH (mostly because I'm older than the game itself, lol). OTL
FFIV remains my favorite to this day. It was the first RPG I was honestly interested in (mostly because FFI had one save file and it belonged to my mom and dad, haha), and, subsequently, the first game I beat without my parents' help. The wide plethora of characters and their roles appealed to me as well -- you had Kain who jumped in the air, Rydia who summoned really powerful monsters, and Cecil, the dark knight-turned-paladin who sought redemption for all that he had done (of course, I never really thought about the dynamics between Rosa and Kain until I was much older, let alone had a appreciation for the 'worthlessness' of characters such as Edward, Tellah, and Porom whom aren't worthless, of course; they're among my favorites as well. )
So yess: Happy 25th Birthday, Final Fantasy IV! Thank you for being a HUGE cornerstone of my childhood gaming days.
(I hope by the time the 30th Anniversary rolls around, I'll be able to draw something that totally encompasses how much I love this game. =X We'll see. I do plan on drawing something November 23rd [which is when the game came to North America on the Super NES], but it's contingent on what life has in store for me by then, of course. )
Oh, also!: This was actually a kinda-sorta-redraw of this (I redid Cecil's attire to look more like his SNES look, yeyy). I'm somewhat amazed to see how much I've improved in approximately nine years. I can only continue to become better, of course, so yeah; can't wait to progress further! C:
Manga Studio 5 on a Wacom Intuos
Edward "Edge" Geraldine, Rydia of Mist (and probably that miniature Mist Dragon thing she's holding), Cecil Harvey, Rosa Farrell, Kain Highwind: (C) Square-Enix
